I now understand why God had selected us to be Brextin's parents

I thank each one of you that have sent their prayers and thoughts to our family - they say that God often selects certain parents for his special children and I am beginning to understand why I was chosen - I truly enjoyed sharing all of Brextin's accomplishments with others as well as his set backs - it allowed others to know that no one is ever alone when it comes to raising a child with special needs and I am forever honored that some of you have followed our blog and thought of my son/family as an inspiration - to keep moving forward with certain therapies or just not give up in general -

I am forever touched by the many of parents, therapists, doctors, and children that we have met over the years - and will forever have a place in my heart for each and everyone of you!

  1. Randi and Andy, You truly are two very special people. You did everything for your child. Which, I know, can feel like you don't have anymore energy to go on, but your love for Brextin gave you strength. I wish I had something to say that would make you feel better. My family has you and your family in our prayers. Hold onto the love of your family and those sweet memories of a sweet little boy. -Becce (Pink) Woestman

  2. Although I had only met you and your sweet Brextin once, he touched my heart like no other! The evening you came to River Source Family Center I was able to play with and hold Brextin in my arms while he slept. He filled me with the joy and love that only a very special child could! I want to thank you for allowing me such an opportunity! He is forever in my heart!

  3. Randi,

I know yesterday, Mother's Day, had to be especially hard. I thought of you several times throughout the day and prayed. You are an amazingly strong and resilient woman and I know you will see this through. In time. There is nothing harder. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I could be there to give you a hug. I wish I could be at the funeral tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. Lots of love, Nancy Higgs

  4. Randi and Andy...

I have been following Brextin's blog for quit sometime where I had found his blog through yahoo groups (IS). You as parents inspire me and other families with special needs children I'm sure. Brextin was a fighter and you as parents did everything you could to give him the best life you could. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. Know that many of us that don't know you are here for you. Please continue to be strong for Brextin! Amy Ritchie, Oakdale MN

  5. Randi and family,
I am so saddened to hear of the news about Brextin. Every day with kids like ours is a gift from Heaven. Brextin was so lucky to have such an amazing family who was always searching for the best possible treatments, therapies, etc to give him the best possible quality of life. We forget that our kids are just grateful that we love them so much and would probably be just fine if we didn't push them so hard. But Brextin was so fortunate to have family that never gave up on him even when you were beaten down by the world around you. I hope that you leave this site up for other parents to find and keep blogging about your inner thoughts and feelings. You have touched me with your strength, dedication and love. Brextin will always be with you and you will continue to pull from his strength. Thank you for sharing your lives with us all!

  7. Randi,
I only met you one time - when you came to Nashy's Benefit - I am so glad to have met you and Andy and of course your handsome little man, Brextin. I have thought about him and prayed for him often. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I stood in line with Jackie for over an hour tonight to offer my condolences, she had to go back to work and I had to get home to take care of her Sydney and Nash. I am so glad that Jackie was able to talk with you both when she returned after work. She needed to see you, I am happy that it worked out. Know that you little boy will always be remembered and loved, even by people that only met him once, like myself. I will never forget kissing him on the cheek before you left the benefit, and he looked at me and gave me the most beautiful little smile - he touched my heart. He will forever be an angel. I know you will have some very difficult days ahead, but keep in mind his pain is over and he touched all who knew him with love. My prayers are with your family, Kathy Hall (Jackie Schult's Mom)
